The Deschutes Rim Clinic Foundation is a new Oregon corporation and a 501(c)(3) non-profit.  It was formed in memory of Deanna McDowell, who passed away in September of 2013.  She was a tireless volunteer in the South Wasco County area and was instrumental in the building of the Canyon Rim Assisted Living facility.  The Foundation is intended to support the Deschutes Rim Health Clinic in providing quality health care and services to the residents of South Wasco County, and is located in Maupin, Oregon.  The Clinic provides economic opportunity and stability in year-round, long-term employment for qualified staff.

The Foundation will use contributions to assist low-income/non-insured residents with necessary care (medications, supplies or office visits).  Eligibility for services at a reduced price is based on the lack of insurance and income per federal poverty level scales.  Other uses for contributions may include replacement of equipment and eventually clinic expansion for growth to sustain our quality of care commitment.

Deanna’s husband Tom recently donated a John Deere pedal tractor in her memory to the live auction at September 13th’s Barlow Gate Grange Beer and Brats dinner for the Lenore Walters Scholarship fund.  This fund supports graduates of South Wasco County High School as they pursue further education.  The tractor fetched the tidy sum of $350!  This defines Deanna’s tireless efforts to support her community.  In this spirit, we can all serve her memory by paying it forward to help the less fortunate in our communities.  Won’t you pledge to our foundation?
